In terms of back-to-nature exclusivity, Samui's
Tamarind Retreat Tropical Villas and Spa is a pedigree
relaxation center. The property is comprised of a day spa
known as The Springs and tropical villas called The Hill. The
villas are naturally elegant and beautifully crafted. But
they're not for everyone. This isn't a hotel. There's no room
service, no restaurant and some of the villas are deliberately
designed to have extra space and have "lost" some doors and
walls. But The Hill is a popular spot for those who appreciate
- and want - to embrace 'nature'. It's an ideal place for
couples who want nothing more than to relax and enjoy the
simple pleasures of spa.
The Springs' black rock steam room has become an
icon on Samui. It's a little primal and certainly different to
sit inside a rock and be soaked with herbal steam.
The day spa prides itself on giving the best
massage treatments on the island. The masseuses are constantly
re-training. Thai massage is administered slowly and deeply
without any painful twists. The house specialty is the
Back-to-Bliss Massage - over three hours of expert,
restorative therapy, while the head massage offers an
exquisite hour of pure gentleness. The challenge is to stay
awake.
