If you are looking for a villa with a superb view,
our newest home at Tamarind Retreat is the right address.
Ingeniously built into a hillside at the summit of
our property, it boasts sweeping panoramic views over
Thong Takian and Lamai Bay and the Gulf of Thailand.
As you climb the granite stairs leading up from the
driveway, you are at the top of the treeline in your
own secluded and very private abode.

A lovely lotus pond on the lower level makes a natural
counterpoint to the four enormous boulders that form
the rear wall of the ensuite master bedroom (see picture
below). The space itself evokes a yin and yang quality that
feels simultaneously safe and spacious. Although it’s
built into the rock face, the room is surrounded by
windowed doorways that open out onto a deck protected
by the surrounding treetops. From here a curved teak staircase sweeps you up to
the enormous (over 100 sq metres) living area which
combines an open-plan kitchen, dining and patio space
under
a spectacularly vaulted beamed ceiling. The breathtaking
view looks southward to islands and the mainland. A
second bedroom (with ensuite bathroom) overlooks the
garden, forested hills and the Gulf.

With its private location at the top of the hill,
Alta Vista is an ideal home for a honeymoon couple,
for those who crave privacy, or if you are looking
for
a villa
that
offers
two discrete
bedrooms ensuite. Road access
is by car unless you’re
a very confident motorcyclist or mountain biker!
Although it's a only a short (steep)
hike down to our spa with
its cafe,
many of our guests choose to hire a car during their
stay to pop out
to local restaurants or for sightseeing..
Note: Because there are no railings
around the pond and upper deck, Alta Vista may not
be suitable for toddlers or very young children.
