Getting
around
Many of our guests choose to hire a
jeep or bike while they are staying with us to get
around to different
beaches, to pop in to the market, or to go out for
dinner.
A Budget or AVIS rent a car goes for
around B1,200 a day (about US$25) and some vehicles
from local suppliers rent for much less (between
B700 and B1000) depending on the season.
Motorbikes
are cheaper (B150 per day),
but driving on Samui can be dangerous especially
if you don't normally ride one. Many of the roads
have gravel or water along the edges, and many a
holiday is spoilt by a bad graze or worse.
However, it's fairly easy to get around
using local transport (either bus or private taxi)
to get around. You can always decide once you arrive,
unless it's peak season (Dec 20 - Jan 10), when you
should think about booking a vehicle in advance..
The company we use can deliver a vehicle within short
notice, but please let us know if you want one so
it can be here when you arrive.
We are happy to coordinate the vehicle delivery, but
we take no commission or responsibilty for the rental
- we ask you to check the car and sign the agreeement
with the rental company and arrange to pay them in
cash on departure. If you prefer a credit card, they
require advance notice and will charge you 3% extra
for the service.
