Who
we are
In 1987 Benjamas
Pongchababnapa and
Detlef Dirksen built
the first of the distinctive hillside villas at what was then called Tamarind
Hill. In 1998, Ben and Detlef teamed up with Shelley Poplak
to create Tamarind Springs -- a herbal steam and massage spa -- on the adjoining
property. The two
Tamarinds merged into Tamarind Retreat in 1999.
Since 1987, many visitors have
embraced our philosophy and have fully experienced the richness of life
in the tropics. We hope that you too will enjoy the combination of home
and spa and
find herein your own special retreat.
